Nutritional Program
Our experienced dietitians provide a comprehensive nutritional evaluation during the initial stage of treatment and design a customized nutritional plan for each resident. Each resident meets with the dietitian several times during the week through participating in individual sessions, meal planning, educational presentations, meal outings, and experiential activities.
Rosewood’s Nutritional program is designed to assist Residents in:
- Identifying their food rituals or “self-imposed rules and beliefs” that limit their ability to be flexible and enjoy a variety of foods.
- Constructing a comfortable, safe, and joyful association with food.
- Changing the way individuals think about nutrition by learning more about their bodies.
- Leaving food and body myths behind and cultivating new thoughts and ideas for meeting their nutritional needs.
- Recognizing the connection between appetite and overwhelming feelings and then using their own tools to uncover the “true” sense of hunger.
- Learning to plan for and prepare balanced meals and snacks, either at home or while dining out.
- Understanding and managing the variety of medical complications associated with eating disorders, including but not limited to: constipation, diarrhea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, electrolyte imbalances, reflux, heartburn, cardiac abnormalities, amenorrhea, dental sensitivities, osteoporosis, hypoglycemia and ketosis.
- Addressing individualized issues and building new skills for healthy eating and exercising.
- Reviewing their family patterns and creating a relaxed and comfortable mealtime atmosphere that stems from improved communication skills.
- Constructing an individualized plan for continued professional support and abundant living.
